The Right to Control the Circulation of One’s Information on the Condition of Healthcare

Abstract

|
Health information is sensitive information that if improperly used or uncovered may seriously affect a patient’s interest in privacy, healthcare, or other interests. Increasing the access to and exchange of health information from automated database, the more needs to enact a law about protecting health information.
The right to control the circulation of one’s information is the core of legislation governing the use and disclosure of health information. If we enact the health information protection act, patients need right of fully informed consent to choose the method of medical treatment and right of giving authorization to the use of their information in secondary use, first. Second, patients need right of access to their own information to know their health condition, the payment, or other else. Third, patients are to be ensured the right of correction inaccurate or incomplete information about themselves. Forth, patients need the right to withdraw the authorization from the use of their information to carry out secondary use which is other than medical purpose.
